About me

I offer calm, experienced care and a listening ear.

“To me, birth is about trust — in your body, your own path and the strength you already hold within you.”

Hello, I’m Saskia.

My pregnancy and the home birth of my first son led me to my calling. After training in Tübingen from 1999 to 2001, I have worked as an independent midwife since 2002, supporting families on their own individual journeys.

I am the mother of two sons, both born at home, and have been part of a happy blended family since 2002. These personal experiences shape how I see family, birth and the many different paths people take together.

It matters to me to meet you as an equal: honestly, thoughtfully and with respect for your decisions. Alongside many years of experience, I bring a range of additional qualifications and a holistic view of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

My experience as a midwife in Zambia and Tamil Nadu has also broadened my understanding of the different social and cultural contexts surrounding pregnancy and birth.

Family diversity & teamworkI welcome families in all their diversity. The father, co-parent or support person you choose is heard and included in shared decisions as an important member of the team — while you retain full autonomy over your body.

Frequently asked questions

Every question is welcome.

A good decision needs honest information — and the feeling that every question is welcome. Simply open the topic that is on your mind.

Who can consider a home birth?

We always discuss this individually. Following an uncomplicated pregnancy and a careful assessment, a home birth may be a suitable option. Where there are particular risks, we seek medical advice.

When should I get in touch?

Ideally, contact me as early in your pregnancy as possible. This gives us plenty of time to get to know each other, prepare together and discuss all your questions.

Which areas do you cover?

For home births, we use a drive of around 90 minutes from Sonnenbühl-Willmandingen as a guide, for example to Engstingen, Reutlingen, Pfullingen, Mössingen, Tübingen, Hechingen, Burladingen or Balingen. We discuss care at your home individually, based on the actual journey and my availability. My wider care area includes the districts of Reutlingen, Tübingen, Zollernalb, Sigmaringen, Biberach, Ulm, Esslingen, Stuttgart and Böblingen, as well as the Lake Constance region — and other areas by personal arrangement.

What does a home birth cost?

Birth care itself is generally billed to your health insurance provider. There are additional fees for being on call and, where applicable, longer journeys. I discuss current fees and possible reimbursement openly with you.

What happens if a hospital transfer becomes necessary?

If it becomes clear that hospital is the safer place, the decision to transfer is made promptly and responsibly. Whenever the situation allows, this happens calmly and as a precaution.

Do I need to decide before our first conversation?

No. Our first meeting comes with no obligation. There is space for your wishes, concerns and questions — afterwards, you can take your time to decide what feels right for you.

Complementary services

Sometimes a little well-chosen support is all it takes.

I combine my midwifery care with various complementary methods. We always discuss together what suits you, your stage of life and your individual circumstances.

01

Pregnancy massage

Time for yourself: a relaxation massage during pregnancy, with a specially designed massage table with a belly opening available on request. Find out more about this service at my practice.

02

Acupuncture

A complementary service during pregnancy and in preparation for birth — always following an individual consultation.

03

Low-level laser therapy

A painless light treatment. We discuss its possible uses and suitability for you individually.

04

Effective manual techniques (EMH)

Individually adapted manual techniques, relaxation massages and movement guidance for pregnancy and the postnatal period.

05

Taping

Elastic adhesive tape may provide additional support for strained areas of the body in everyday life.

06

Homeopathy

Discussed individually as a complementary approach if requested — never as a substitute for necessary medical treatment.

Complementary methods do not replace medically necessary examination or treatment.
