An informed choice

Feeling secure with professional care.

I take time to get to know you and the people by your side. Together, we discuss your wishes, the conditions for a home birth and what helps you feel secure. The father or your chosen second support person is actively included in preparation and decision-making.

Prepared as a team

We discuss your questions, your wishes and the role of the father or your chosen support person. This creates a reliable foundation for your birth.

Attentive care

During labour and birth, I stay attentively by your side, monitor your progress and offer calm, guidance and professional support.

A plan B, too

If the situation changes, we act early and calmly. We prepare together for the possibility of a hospital transfer.

Conditions for home birth

When a home birth may be possible.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to whether home birth is right for you and your pregnancy. Your health, your baby's development and your personal circumstances are key.

In a detailed conversation, we look at all the important factors together. You can ask any question – openly, honestly and without pressure to decide.

Your path to home birth

Care from the very beginning.

01

Getting to know each other

In an initial conversation, we find out whether we are a good fit and whether a home birth could be an option for you.

02

Preparation

During pregnancy, we get to know each other well, involve the father or your chosen support person and plan possible alternatives together.

03

Giving birth at home

When labour begins, I am on call and support you in your familiar surroundings.

04

After the birth

After the birth, calm and closeness remain our focus. I am also here for you during the postnatal period.

Safety & hospital transfer

A plan that allows for change.

A home birth is carefully prepared. We discuss in advance which circumstances may rule out giving birth at home and how we will respond if things change during labour.

A hospital transfer is not a failure. If it becomes advisable or necessary, we make that decision as early and calmly as possible. The nearest suitable hospital and the route there are therefore part of our planning from the start.

My focus is home birth. By individual arrangement, I can also accompany you to hospital as a doula.

Costs & on-call care

Clear from the start.

To help you plan, we discuss costs, possible reimbursements and travel arrangements personally before care begins.

Care during birth

Care for the home birth itself is generally covered by health insurance. With private insurance, reimbursement depends on your policy.

On-call care

The on-call period begins three weeks before your estimated due date and ends two weeks afterwards. The flat fee is €800 and is due three weeks before your due date.

Travel

There are no additional travel costs for a one-way distance of up to 50 kilometres. From the 51st kilometre, €1 is charged for each additional kilometre of the one-way journey.

Many health insurers reimburse part of the on-call fee. Please check the current amount directly with your insurer. Additional travel costs may apply for distances over 50 kilometres. We discuss personally whether your statutory health insurance covers these and how you will be billed. Travel costs may apply to the initial consultation, the birth and a second midwife; additional home visits are charged accordingly. Appointments at the practice carry no additional travel costs.
